What should I do about a neighbor's child teasing my dog?

Kids are always teasing my dog. Last night my neighbor's 10-year-old daughter was teasing my dog and he retaliated. Now she has to get surgery to reconstruct her face. This is not the first time this has happened. It's giving my dog a bad name; her parents want to sue me and I'm afraid the police are going to put him to sleep. That's not right; if these kids wouldn't tease the dog he'd leave them alone. These parents need to ground their kids for teasing my dog, not kill my dog for acting just like any other dog. Do you know a good lawyer for me in NJ?
